MOZART // CLEMENTI

How do you perceive the evolution of the musical landscape in terms of
these issues?
In certain milieux, one can observe more and more dialogue between artists. In
classical music, though, things are still pretty timid. The tendency is to pigeonhole
performers according to their repertory. For my part, I shun stereotypes! But
that doesn’t mean I’m favourable to crossover or ‘vulgar vulgarisation’. I simply
encourage curiosity, exploration, experimentation. That was the philosophy of the
project ‘Ravel Landscapes’: I asked two visual artists towork on pieces by Ravel, and
the result was created at the Cité de la Musique in Paris. The idea was to propose a
newway of listening and of experiencing a concert, to shed new light on themusic.
