version of the celebrated chorale ‘Zion
hears the watchmen singing’. In the
present recording, moreover, the piece
symbolically unites the two performers
thanks to a technical trick: wearing
headphones that play him Bach’s
original version of the chorale, recorded
earlier by Michel Bouvard, François
Espinasse superimposes on it, for the
same microphones, the continuo devised
by André Isoir, as a tribute and a token
of gratitude from the two artists to their
former teacher.
