JEAN-PHILIPPE COLLARD 17
I get two very powerful impressions
from Chopin’s music. On the one hand, it
interprets the feeling of being in love. That
aspect fascinates me. Also, his language is
a tremendous vehicle of communication
between the artist and the audience. Or, at
least, it speeds up that process. In away, that
can offset the loneliness of life as a concert
artist. I’ve always suffered fromhaving to sit
alone inahotel roomafter aconcert,without
having been able even to speak to or create
a personal connection with the audience.
Chopin’s music allows me to establish that
dialogue, at least to some extent.
