Three years went by. The

rhythms

of

the

Javanese

gamelans continued to haunt the

composer. In 1892, Debussy finally

produced his string quartet, filled

with the colors of the Far East and

impressions of Russia, where the

young man had spent summers.

In June of this same year, he

eliminated his Achille’s heel and

finally become “Claude Debussy.”
