The bridges he built between art music and popular music had a huge impact and broadened the horizons of American musical taste. We soon decided to include Philip Glass and his Four Movements for Two Pianos , since Glass has been the indispensable pillar of the minimalist movement. Meredith Monk, singer, performance artist and dancer, is a very strong and original personality. Her short, poetic pieces, at once melodic and focusing on perpetual motion, appealed to us both. And a feminine presence was welcome! And, as we had already recorded several albums individually on La Dolce Volta, it seemed natural to us to continue our discographical journey on the label.
