Having found out from Juliette that her father Jean-Pierre was a composer, I went to his site where I listened to some excerpts from his music. It had a huge impact on me. I discovered music that was telluric, instinctual, colourful, uncompromising. And I met a man of disconcerting modesty, passion and generosity. Here is an excerpt from one of his letters: ‘When you asked me to write for you, it went without saying that I could trust you to electrify a score that could only be heard under your solid yet tender hands.
