Juliette took part in the Le Film tour with Philippe Katerine and me, just before the release of her first album, which became a huge success. Alone on stage at her piano, she looked for (and always found) a certain Alexandre among the audience. She already possessed that aura everyone finds so fascinating, that fragility mixed with exuberance, freshness and mystery, all wrapped in a fragrant voice. When she suggested we should record Je ne t’aime pas , one of Kurt Weill’s three songs in French, I was overjoyed. This poignant music seems to me to exude an exquisite aroma that comes straight from the world of cabaret and indeed, thanks to Juliette, takes us far beyond it. DANA CIOCARLIE & FRIENDS 33
