Julie is an integral part of my landscape. This joyful, mischievous little fairy resembles a miniature atomic power plant, fuelled by an immoderate love of classical music. A few years ago, on a trip to Pau, she was cooking pasta before a concert. She tossed two or three boiling strands up to the kitchen ceiling: ‘That’s how you check if they’re cooked al dente; if they fall back down, they’re ready’. One day, listening to her regular morning slot on France Musique, I had the idea of asking her to participate in this album by speaking the three poems by Romanian authors presented here.
