DANA CIOCARLIE & FRIENDS 15 Philippe came into my life one first of September, with a risotto and the songs from his disc Le Film . The first time we saw each other, we struck up an immediate rapport; we talked about all kinds of things and for a long time, so infectious was my enthusiasm. I played a little for him, we sang. He asked me how high I could sing! He said: ‘My dear, we’re going to get around quite a bit together!’ And it was true . . . Until then I had never ventured into a musical territory so far removed from classical music. During our first tour, when I lent him a small amount of money, he wrote on a postcard: ‘They say that a debt paid is a friend kept. And I want to remain your friend for ever.’
