15 CLÉMENT LEFEBVRE States of mind... Clément Lefebvre, how did you enter the world of Alexander Scriabin? Clément Lefebvre: His music has been with me since childhood. I discovered it when I was very young, listening to my older brother play the first étude from Opus 2. I was captivated by the unique way in which this composer made the piano sound, with its interplay of registers, vibrations and resonances. I got to grips with his Piano Sonata no.3 early on and then ventured into his lesser-played pieces, in particular his Impromptus, which immediately appealed to me and whose discovery encouraged me to devote this album to his first creative period. I had also wanted for some time to immerse myself in his Fantaisie, which is the culmination of his work. Fascinated by this composer and his perpetual search, I also explored the whole of his oeuvre: each of his works represents a stage in his stylistic evolution, a march towards an absolute that he dreams of attaining.
