I wanted to close this programme with these two pieces because I just find them so thrilling. I have an immense admiration for the Sherman brothers and John Williams. It was also an opportunity for me to celebrate the genre of film music, in which I’ve become increasingly interested, so much so that I studied it during the Covid pandemic. And then, it enabled me to draw a parallel between Paul Dukas and John Williams, both of whom portray sorcerers’ apprentices. It’s the perfect way to come full circle!
