15 EVA ZAVARO, CLÉMENT LEFEBVRE Eva, this CD couples works by Gabriel Fauré and Karol Szymanowski: how did you come up with the idea? Eva Zavaro: I played through Fauré’s Second Sonata for the first time while staying with my grandmother in Poland. Initially, I was perplexed. There were many elements of his style that eluded me. That encouraged me to go further, and I enjoyed exploring this discovery in greater depth. From that moment on, it never left my mind. When I thought about my first recording, I wanted it to reflect my dual French and Polish identity. The idea of programming Fauré and Szymanowski together came from a poetic revelation. I perceived that these two composers possessed a shared sensibility, a bond founded on the theme of night.
