Laure-Hélène Michel: Yes indeed: we go from a seldom played and rarely recorded piece by Chausson to a mature score by Ravel, a sort of ‘Everest’ of the piano trio repertory and perhaps the masterpiece of the genre in the first half of the twentieth century! The two trios call for a radically different technique and aesthetic approach, yet both are so French in spirit.
