23 FLORIAN NOACK On his thread of time, Florian creates illusion. Being a pianist is not enough. He lives out his pleasure at being in the world, he plays football, he does magic tricks for anyone who asks, he plays, he transcribes, and by all these means, he seeks to cover his tracks, to escape the prison of identity, to construct a trajectory that no one can predict. What emerges from the groove is unpredictable. Florian plays with illusions, he enjoys himself and attempts the unpredictable. So he has recorded this album where he wants to put everything: Bach that no longer sounds like Bach, the myriad colours of Rimsky-Korsakov’s symphony orchestra, Renaissance music, the music of a child hero in the midst of the jungle, waltzes of varying degrees of pomp. Florian wants everything, right away, like Antigone, but – fortunately – he doesn’t end up like Sophocles’ heroine. No, faced with the complexity of the world and the simplicity of the passing of time, he makes a recording where everything is permitted, where everything is summoned to a single piano, where everything has value, a recording like a jigsaw puzzle that the listener can piece together, under the illusion that time stands still, and in the pleasure of discovering a fully formed image, that of a pianist who has found his way to joy in the world.
