21 You didn’t play only Beethoven or Prokofiev on Daniel Hope’s programme, but also a song by Charles Aznavour. Adrien — The concept of his show is always to mix genres, styles, nationalities and traditions. With that in mind, we looked around for an ‘encore’ different from our programme that would be representative of France. Aznavour’s song La Bohème seemed the perfect choice, and in a context where the whole world was at a standstill, we also wanted to offer a lighter piece to the audience, confined to their homes in front of their screens. Danae — After the show, we received extremely positive feedback from the audience concerning this piece, and it just so happens that it sounds especially well on the viola, an instrument that’s very close to the human voice. The song was a determining factor in our decision to develop our collaboration and continue to cross borders, true to the bohemian spirit as we know it. Adrien — For me, our collaboration felt like a new lease of life after the many months I had spent at home playing only for a camera. I had the urge to present music that wasn’t restricted to a classical audience and that would transmit the kind of a powerful positive energy we all need. After such a tough year, I wanted to make an album brimming with positivity, light-heartedness and beauty, with the desire to get back to a calmer life. ADRIEN LA MARCA & DANAE DÖRKEN
